Sick Again

Well Jackson is sick again. I guess I have to have one sickly child, plus, he was such a darn troublemaker on the inside, I guess he'd have to be one on the outside too. Right now he's just pathetic.

Sunday morning was of course my morning to sleep in. At 7am I hear screaming and screaming and screaming. So, I get up and Trevor asks for the thermometer. I went and got it and took Jack's temp - it's 102 degrees. So, we gave him tylenol and a bath and started our day early. All day he had that darn temp and it wouldn't break. He was eating and drinking ok so I wasn't worried. Then, in the middle of the afternoon I noticed during a diaper change hives all over his bottom and privates. I called the hospital and they told me what to watch out for, dehydration, etc. I felt comfortable not bringing him in.

Later in the evening he stopped eating and drinking and after alternating tylenol and motrin all day and giving him countless baths, he still had a raging temp of 102. Last night he started to get fussy and all he did was cry and scream, it was miserable for everyone. I spent the first half of the night cuddling on the couch with him and then when he woke up briefly Trevor came down and swapped with me. NO ONE got any sleep last night except maybe Olivia.

This morning we brought Olivia to preschool and dropped Trevor off at work and I brought the little guy to the ER. The temp had broken and was at 100 but when I took his diaper off to show the nurse his rash, it had spread all over his body from his head to his toes. He had them on his tongue and a lot were blistered. He was very lathargic and just miserable. He wasn't dehydrated enough to worry but borderline and so the dr asked if we could hang out for awhile while I continued to syringe pedialyte down his throat. We tested him for strep and that came back negative but both of his ears are infected (again) and his throat is all red. We finally decided he has a double ear infection and roseola. Poor kid. He is on an antibiotic (again) and has perked up a little bit. Now he should be ok if I can get some fluids in him.

Thru all this Trevor asks me, "Does this kid come with a warranty?" LOL
